Split Window Feature in Module Viewer?

In DOORS 8.1, is there:
a. The ability to open a module twice on a single computer?
b. A split window feature?

I'm trying to reference earlier sections in my module while developing new requirements, and bouncing back and forth is extremely unproductive. The best I've come up with is to use the hierarchy view as my "split", but unless your requirements are short, they get truncated.

Hi,

a. Yes
b. No

a. you can't open a module twice in the same DOORS instance, but you can open more than one instance of DOORS client on your PC.

So :
  • open a first DOORS client, open your formal module
  • open a second DOORS client (wtih same logging, non problem), open again your formal module.

You can have :
  • exclusive edit on firts and Read-only on second
  • or you can use Shareble edit

If you have two screens, this is very confortable.

I have use this on 8.3 and 9.1. You need only one license.
A read, but not try, that from 9.2, you need one license for each instance :-(

Pierre

PDU, thanks for the info. I had previously tried opening the same module from the database view using different edit settings and it just kept reusing the same window, but hadn't tried opening DOORS twice, so that will work. Clever on IBM's part to claim a second license in newer versions. Thanks for the heads up; I'll definitely keep that in mind when we finally get around to updating to a newer version.

I should probably submit an RFE for adding the ability to dock multiple reading views or at the very least split the reading view.
