You call IBM, and tell them you want to purchase Rational Publishing Engine. The salesperson will send you a quote. You forward that quote to your company's purchasing department and they will create a purchase order for RPE and send it and the money to IBM. IBM will grant you licenses for RPE, which you will then install on your IBM License Server. From there, you can download and install RPE, and create your own DTA files, and then publish them.

The above is the general idea. Your company may have its own processes for software purchases than I've listed above. Perhaps they use a preferred vendor. But the above outline should generally work for most companies.

Good luck.

DOORS uses 2 templates from RPE for Word doc creation in 9.3 - it provides the ability to add header, footer and TOC with the DOORS Word export. You cannot use RPE templates today with DOORS export - you need to use the integration of RPE and DOORS which will provide you the RPE menu selection within DOORS that will start the RPE launcher to produce the reports using the templates you have built in RPE.
