Disappearing Links

Hello,

This may be blatantly obvious, but it has been ages since I have work with DOORS.

I have a top level module (A) where previous “In” links (say from modules B and C) seem to have disappeared. I can make them re-appear using the following:

If while A is open, I open module B, select an object known to have Out links to A, then show Properties of that object, the links from that object then appear in A. But, if I close B or close A (both without saving), then those links “disappear” again in A. This works for each object where Properties are shown; i.e, to get all links to show up, need to open Properties for each object in B.

Can anyone help explain what is going on or provide suggestions on how to prevent the links from disappearing?

DOORS 8.1

Module A was baselined some time ago. Links seem to work in the older baseline, but not subsequently.

We experienced similar problems on a very intermittent basis some time back. Check out the "Missing In-link Indicators in Target Module" post.

Hello All,
Happy New Year :)

Like many others here I provide DOORS Admin & issues support to 900+ users over 7 DOORS instances accross several geographic areas at my company since March 2006.

We also have experienced this dissappearing link arrows issue on (2 to 3) occaisions over the last year with DOORS v9.1.0.3 as well, on different servers and 2 domains.

Actually, we have seen it happen where one link end OR the other has been involved, -e.g. "link source end OR link target end" was impacted.
NOTE: one of the dxl's in this thread "inlink.dxl" only fixes the ones for one end and deletes the other link info scenario, this might be painful where the links need to be fixed no matter which end suddenly dissappears. So just be sure which scenario you apply it too.

Thankfully...by monitoring this forum site, at least now we know we are not alone, and that this anomoly has been around since Doors v 5.2.

With this forumn and sharing by other folks here, we are now on the cusp of having a repair.dxl for addressing each of the scenarios that can and have been known to occur.

-fyi... we are presently moving "methodically" towards DOORS v9.3.0.2 hoping to move past damaging anomolies such as this one.

SIDE NOTE: likely unrelated to any dissappearing links, we have run into some "dissappearing text" when printing to Adobe.pdf formats from DOORS v9.1.
this .pdf print issue has been entered into the PMR system and we are hoping the IBM Rational DOORS development team will provide a FIX in one of the future DOORS patches.

With any luck, they will discover why the links are still dissappearing as well and provide a final fix.
