Using DOORS in Extended Screen (Dual Monitors)

I am having difficulties projecting/moving the DOORS windows onto my second monitor. DOORS will not move to the extended screen. Does anyone know if this is possible?

There is no particular graphics DOORS needs, so it should work. Can you move other windows to this other screen? If not, you need to adjust you display settings looking for "extend desktop" option. Right click on your desktop >Properties >Settings, should be in there somewhere.

Yes,

there is no problem,
i use every day two screens with one module on the first, second module on the second. Very useful for links for example.

The only limitation is that DOORS always open windows on the main window.

I am able to move everything between the screens EXCEPT DOORS. I am at a loss as to why only DOORS will not move to the extended screen. I am able to drag and drop windows between monitors, and click on the arrow at the top of the window to move windows over for all applications except DOORS. When I try and drag a DOORS window to the extended window, it stops when the mouse cursor comes to the side of the monitor. For example, if I select the DOORS window at the middle, the window will drag half way onto the extended monitor and when I release the mouse button, it snaps back over to the primary monitor.

Could there be an issue with the DOORS app if I'm running it from the web?

Actually, I need to correct the statement about it snapping back to the primary window. It does not snap, it stays put when I unclick the mouse button displaying what was left on the primary monitor and nothing on the extended monitor.

Make sure that your view is not specifying "full screen" when the module opens. Or, if it does, simply hit the Restore Down window icon to make the window less than full screen. Then, you can move it, or drag its width across both screens. I do it all day every day.

The modules do not open in Full Screen. However, after launching it, I maximized the DOORS module and then was able to successfully drag it to the other monitor, however it cutting off about 1/3 of the viewable area. Somewhat like DOORS is only recognizing 13 of the available 18 inches of monitor width. Although that works for me as I can move the Links module over there.

Does "Running from the Web" mean "Citrix"? If so...

Understand that when you "see" the DOORS window, you are really just getting a clever screen shot, the real DOORs window is running on the Citrix client. Anyway, it appears your dual monitors are not compatible with Citrix; and if so and you ran other Citrix applications, they should have the same restriction. I'm guessing that since the Citrix server has no 2nd monitor, it doesn't know how to handle your mouse commands that presume there is one.

I'd chat with IT or Citrix about this.

And, since I truly HATE 'seamless' Citrix, I'd adjust my Citrix Connection preferences to "Percent of Screen", I choose 80%. Citrix comes up in its own window and DOORS inside that, and it makes it clearer for me what is what, which is important since I routinely then fire up Citrix Windows Explorer and I want it all in one tidy box so I can tell which applications are running in Citrix and which are not.

I'm not suggesting this for you, but if it were me I'd fire up a Citrix Windows explorer and try to install new hardware, 2nd monitor, in Citrix. I'd fail, but I'd give it a shot.

Or ask your IT person for Citrix Desktop, if you are using Citrix.
