Doors excel export format

I found out that when an object in Doors has value tex like "1/3/9" when this is exported to excel it looks like "2009-01-05" in excel, How I can avid this?

Thanks

I think you can select the column in excel and change its underlying type from "General" to "Text"; but then there's a limit on how many characters you can display.

On an individual case you can insert a space in the middle, perhaps "1/ 3/9" and Excel will no longer recognize it as a Date format, and then leave it alone.

MSExcel is too smart for itself - during an export, MSExcel will try to determine the data type of each column and apply that type accordingly.

The DOORS Export to MSExcel is very primitive and does not offer you the option to export to a specific MSExcel template where you can predefine the data type for each column and avoid this irritating issue.

I recommend that you get a copy of Michael Sutherland's classic "Enhanced Export to Excel" DXL script. This allows you to select many export options including exporting to a specific MSExcel template file - you can find it by clicking here - many other very useful DXL scripts here as well.
