Microsoft Word 2010 Export To DOORS Add-In?

My company recently moved to Microsoft Office 2010 and I no longer have the add-in in my list? Does that add-in exist for 2010 and if so how do I load it? If not, any work-arounds anyone has come up with?

At home and cannot confirm, so the spelling of the following locations is suspect.

The doors.dot file in question is here:
c:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.2\lib\Word\

If you have admin rights to machine it should be copied here:
c:\Program Files\Office_13.0\Microsoft Office\WordTemplates

If you don't have admin rights you can copy it to YOUR template location here:
c:\Documents and Settings\<Whatever>\ I forget\Startup. This will be the same location as your normal.dot.

You can get the last two locations via settings in MS-Word, get Options and somewhere there are "locations".

Now it seemed to me that with more than one DOORS version installed you need to tell Word which export template is which. Whichever of the two locations used above, copy the files elsewhere. Copy one doors.dot file therein but rename it as per version, perhaps doors_v93.dot. Open Word and you should be able to edit the Visual Basic stuff, find the macro, and rename it perhaps Doors-Export_v93. Add another doors dot, perhaps v83, and repeat. Thus, Word will have two exporters and you can tell which is which.

Oh, yes. The v9x installer requires someone with admin rights to export once from word to DOORS in order to set certain registry entries. I am at this time trying to track that down and will post the exact registry updates required. Meanwhile, have an admin export a Word file into DOORS; the file must contain one non-white space character.

Which version of DOORS are you using? In my experience, Word 2010 does not work with any current version of DOORS (tried v7.1, v8.3 and v9.2.0.5).

The problems I encountered were typically around exporting OLEs from Word to DOORS, and exporting from DOORS to Word using WEXP.

Having had this lack of compatibility confirmed by IBM, my business decided to hold off deployment of Office 2010 in our Citrix environment until a compatible version of DOORS is available.

Oh yes. Office 2010 is supported by DOORS v9.3, not earlier releases.

Not yet, Office 2007 is the last version that's tested/supported against DOORS 9.3..

Supported (or at least "tested") now with release 9.3.0.4

An update also on this discussion: just got my Windows 7 / Office 2010 installation working with DOORS 9.3.0.4. The Word Add-In "Export to DOORS" was available in the Word toobar (or what ever is the new menu strip) worked as in earlier versions.

I think you need to copy the "doors.dot" file..
from... C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.2\lib\word
to..... C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP

I'd be tempted to rename it "doors_v93.dot"

Or put a shortcut pointing to it.

If you cannot modify that location (for all users of the PC), you can set it up for yourself copying the file here:
to..... C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

I guess the new Windows uses "\Users" instead of "\Documents and Settings"
