Hi all,
I have a couple questions that I haven't been able to find an answer to yet. Most of these arise from seeing how FlexLM works with clear case and how it works with DOORS 8.3
1. Is there some way to force FlexLM to timeout on doors licenses if a user is inactive for more than x time? Clear Case does this automatically at 1 hour.
2. is there a way to see who has licenses currently? Again there is a command line code for clear case.
3. Is there a way to set priority to a user for licenses? I.e. the Doors Admin or Group. Again I think Clear Case can do this but I'm not sure on this one.
Thanks,
Justus

Don't know much about Flex, however:
[1] Doors has a must-retype-password timeout in the Database Properties, but has no mechansim for logging inactive folks out.
[2] The Window based ../installDir/bin/dbsadmin.exe shows who is logged into the DOORS database. The DOS based dbadmin.exe does the same thing.
[3] Licenses are retrieved from Flex before the target application is considered, so no DOORS groups can be used in Flex. I don't think Flex has a mechanism for auto logging someone out when there are no more licenses when an admin wants one.

If you use Citrix to access DOORS, you can specify active and inactive timeouts to log out users, and specify the number of instances of DOORS, by user group if necessary.

Re: Floating Licenses SystemAdmin - Tue Dec 30 17:14:53 EST 2008
Hi Justus,
1. Nope. It's been discussed on the old forums, and requested from Telelogic, but the answer (so far, at least) is "Nope."
2. Louie's got a good way to see who's logged in, which (theoretically) corresponds to who's got a license. You can also query the Flex server for its opinion:
lmutil lmstat -a -c doors.lic
where lmutil is the FlexLM tool for just such occasions. No clue where it is installed, if anywhere, by default on a server or the like. But I think you can download it from their web site (GIYF). You'll probably have to talk to your admin about the .lic file.
3. I don't think so.

Hi all.
To circumvent this lack of Flexlm feature, we finally ended to stop and restart the Flexlm server daemon every day at 10 PM. Rather abrupte but effective solution.
