Synopsis
The Product Owner makes the Product Vision accessible, so that each member of the team can go back to the Product
Vision at any time.
Value
A shared Product Vision maximizes transparency and ensures a common understanding of the product capabilities that are
to be delivered.
Steps
A variety of techniques can be applied to develop a Product Vision, such as market research, customer feedback, and so
on.
These techniques are not covered here. These steps address how to share the documented Product Vision with the
team.
The Product Owner performs the following steps.

Tool guidance
|
1. Make the Product Vision accessible
For transparency, the Product Owner shares the Product Vision on a centralized and easy accessible
location.
|
Document the Product Vision on the Product Vision tab of the Product Backlog plan.
a. In the web interface, click Plans > All Plans. Then click Product
Backlog.
b. Add a page Product Vision. See Adding plan pages.
c. Click the Edit icon and add the Product Vision text (or link to a separate document stored
elsewhere).
See Text formatting syntax for plans.
|
2. Inform the team
Inform the team how they can access the Product Vision.
|
There are many different ways to inform the team, including meetings and email.
If you want confirmation that everyone on the team has reviewed the Product Vision, add them as
reviewers to a work item, along with instructions on where to find the Product Vision and what to
review. (If the project created work items using the "Project Initiation" work item template, then
there will be a work item "Share Product Vision" that you should use).
