Work Item Type: Defect

Main description

A defect is a problem with the product that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes the system to behave in unintended ways.  New functionality or enhancements should be recorded as a Story.

The following are the states for this work item type:

  • New – The defect is created; its disposition has not been determined.
  • In Development – The defect is actively being worked on. This includes fixing the defect and developer testing.
  • In Test – The defect is being independently verified.
  • Resolved – The defect is closed. The resolution specifies its disposition.
    • Invalid – The defect is not valid.
    • Works for Me – Unable to reproduce.
    • Works as Designed – This is how it is supposed to work.
    • Duplicate – The defect is a duplicate of another defect. A link to the other defect should be created.
    • Fixed – The defect was corrected.
    • Fixed Upstream – The defect was corrected as part of another change.
  • Reopened - The defect was previously resolved, but needs additional work.
