Rational Quality Manager 2.0 participates in the Collaborative Application Lifecycle Management (C/ALM) effort which, initially, provides integrations among Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager, Rational Requirements Composer, and ClearQuest.

The ability to open defects directly on a Rational Team Concert server now allows developers and testers to better collaborate and work on the same work items.

It is now possible for Rational Team Concert to notify Rational Quality Manager when a build is complete and then initiate a Build Verification Test (BVT). Execution schedules can then run sequences of Test Suites, Test Execution Records and Automations to ensure build quality.

When a tester working in Rational Quality Manager hovers over a cross-server link to a Rational Team Concert work item, the work item preview is shown in a rich hover. This allows the tester to quickly inspect the status of the work item without having to leave the Rational Quality Manager context.

Previously Rational Quality Manager relied upon the Eclipse BIRT reporting engine. IBM Rational Quality Manager is now integrated with an advanced and customizable reporting engine based on Cognos technology that addresses the concerns and needs of business analysts and management. This integration supplies over 50 out of the box reports that leverage built in ROI metrics for test lab and test assets in compliance with IBM's Measured Capability Improvement Framework (MCIF).

IBM Rational Quality Manager's Risk Based Testing enables teams to confidently make decisions to meet business quality objectives supporting best practices in risk management. By prioritizing efforts to assure quality where resources are limited and providing a collaborative risk management strategy, teams are able to focus on those areas of the application which are at the highest risk of failure.

The editing capability for Manual Testing has been enhanced by the addition of "Expected Results" and improved image attachment management. Additionally, you now have the ability to create keywords from within the script, and the Keyword View can be collapsed.

We have also added execution enhancements for Manual Testing with the addition of "Expected Results" and "Actual Results", as well as Toolbar enhancements to reduce the number of clicks and correct situations where the scrollbar would scroll out of view. Rounding out the execution enhancements, steps within keywords will execute as separate steps.

IBM Rational Quality Manager can now track requirements through a dynamic link to Rational DOORS. Test cases can be linked to requirements, providing project managers with a way to track requirements coverage as well requirements change impact on quality plans.
